Supporting Partners of Sexual Abuse Survivors: Growing Together and Fostering Relational Healing
Are you a therapist looking to make a profound difference in the lives of sexual trauma survivors and their partners? Our specialized course is designed to equip you with the skills to transform your clients' most intimate relationships.
Sexual trauma survivors can have improved rates of healing when they have an attuned and supportive intimate partner. Unfortunately, sexual trauma can negatively impact both partner’s ability to co-create a securely attached and sexually engaged relationship as the trauma can leave a lasting relational impact on the survivor and their loved ones. While the survivor may experience PTSD, sexual dissatisfaction, and relational anxiety leading to an insecure attachment style, their partner may experience vicarious trauma, caregiver compassion fatigue, relationship and sexual dissatisfaction, and their own mental health struggles.
This course will help you support survivor’s partners in individual and couples therapy. You will learn how to assess your client’s level of relational trauma distress, engage both partners in effective relationship and sex therapy, and implement evidence-based interventions that will help both partners move towards trauma healing and a more secure relationship.
