The mission of The Buehler Institute is to help as many people as possible overcome sexual complaints and get more joy from life by educating and training sexuality professionals including therapists, nurses, and others.
Dr. Buehler is the author of several books including What Every Mental Health Professional Needs to Know about Sex, with the third edition to be published in 2021. She is on the Board for the Journal of Sexuality Counseling and is a reviewer for Sexual Medicine Reports and the Journal of Sex Research. Dr. Buehler is known internationally for her expertise and has been invited to speak across the US, Canada, India, Ireland, Japan, and more.
Dr. Buehler specializes in sexuality, cancer, and chronic illness; sexuality and mental illness; sexual pain disorders; and issues related to reproduction. A second-generation native of Los Angeles, she prides herself on working with people from different races, cultures, religions, orientations and genders. Her additional works include Sex, Love, and Mental Illness: What Every Couples Needs to Know, and Counseling Couples Before, During, and After Pregnancy: Sexuality and Intimacy Issues.
In her free time, Dr. Buehler practices botanical art and nature photography and loves to travel. She lives with her husband of 30+ years in Orange County, CA.
